From Robert Johnson’s legendary deal at the crossroads to murder ballads, drinking songs and devilish blues, this entertaining show journeys through folk, blues and Americana traditions with wit, warmth and outstanding musicianship. Expect tales of rogues, sinners, gamblers and hard drinkers, alongside classics by artists such as Steve Earle, Randy Newman, The Rolling Stones and Richard Thompson. By turns spooky, moving and laugh-out-loud funny, Ballads & Blues, Devils & Booze is a richly entertaining celebration of music’s darker side.
